Events Okategoriserade Nordic Spaces secures contract for book series with Ashgate
The Nordic Spaces research programme has secured an agreement with British academic publisher Ashgate for the the publication of a book series, "The Nordic Experience", consisting of five volumes. Three of the books will be included in the Ashgate History list, one in the Politics list and one in the Music list, but the series as a whole will be promoted across a variety of disciplines. In total the books contain close to 60 chapters addressing various aspects of the Nordic region. The series has been accepted after a rigorous peer review conducted by 10 international experts.

The first three volumes will be published during 2012: Science, Geopolitics and Culture in the Polar Region: Norden Beyond Borders, which is edited by Sverker Sörlin and deals with the relation between the Nordic region and the arctic; Communicating the North: Media Structures and Images in the Making of the Nordic Region, edited by Jonas Harvard and Peter Stadius, which analyses Nordic media structures and media images of Norden, and Performing Nordic Heritage: Museums, Festivals and Everyday Life, edited by Peter Aronsson and Lizette Gradén, which explores how museums and everyday practices have formed relations to purportedly Nordic history and traditions. The following two volumes will be published in 2013, namely Models of Democracy in Nordic and Baltic Europe: Political Institutions and Discourse, edited by Nicholas Aylott, and Nordic Dance Spaces: Location and Dislocation, edited by Karen Vedel and Petri Hoppu.
